The 2018 NFL Draft has come and gone. Held the gigantic AT&T Stadium (home of the Dallas Cowboys), the annual event attract over a hundred thousand fans. The draft included some big surprises like Baker Mayfield going first overall to the Cleveland Browns or the New Orleans trading up to snag defensive end Marcus Davenport. Overall, the draft went according to plan for some teams. We took four teams from both the AFC and NFC and left our comments and thoughts.

1. Cleveland Browns
With two picks in the top 5 of the NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns had an opportunity to get better. Although Browns did not win a game last season, they were in a lot of close games. A play here or a play there, the Browns could have had a winning season.

The Browns upgraded itself at the quarterback position through free agency with signing of Tyrod Taylor. They also acquired Jarvis Landry from the Miami Dolphins in a trade. Pairing Landry with Josh Gordon, the Browns now have an ultra explosive tandem at the wide receiver position. They also added Carlos Hyde which was good pick up as well.

With the first pick of the NFL Draft, we felt that the Browns should have taken Saquon Barkley first overall and Bradley Chubb with their fourth pick. Why? The Browns already have Tyrod Taylor at quarterback. He has a propensity of not turning the ball over (Baker Mayfield are essentially the same guy in some comparisons). By adding TBd, you can play ball control which will open up the coverage for their explosive wide receiver corps. Plus, you could have grab a quarterback like Mason Rudolph in the second round and have him develop the next year or two.

Adding Chubb along with last year’s draft pick Myles Garrett, you will know have the stalwarts to get after Benn Rothlisberger, Andy Dalton and Joe Flacco for years to come. We like Denzel Ward, but the Browns could have drafted a good cornerback in the second round.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars just added depth to their already talented roster. Most draft analysts thought the Jags would go offense with its first pick, but they added another talent to its defensive line. Taven Bryan has the same measurable as Gerald McCoy and has a similar motor to J.J. Watt. Add the fact that he will be mentored by all-pro Calais Campbell and you 5-7 defensive lineman who all special skills to get to the quarterback. The Jags has the potential to break the team sack record in the upcoming season.

3. New York Giants
By drafting Saquon Barkley and Will Hernandez (along with a healthy and focused OBJ), Eli Manning should be able to play another four years in the NFL. One of the better play-action quarterbacks, Eli should be able to flourish this season.

Side note: We think the Giants should add wide receiver Dez Bryant as the possession receiver they wanted Brandon Marshall to become.

4. New Orleans Saints
The Saints were one blown coverage from the NFC Championship. They did the right thing in the offseason in paying Drew Brees. The team doesn’t have too many holes, that’s why trading up for Marcus Davenport made sense. At 6’6 and 264lbs, Davenport’s speed is freakish (ran 4.58 at the NFL Combine). You pair him with Cameron Jordan, the Saints defense should be able to terrorize the NFL South.
