Can you think of anything more glamorous than being a CEO and self-taught key artist of your own makeup line? Blue Michael of Blue Michael Cosmetics who discovered his love for the craft during his former years in the music, beauty, and fashion industries has a pretty good idea.
Michael whetted his appetite for beauty as he cultivated his craft and learned to listen to what celebrities and performers expected and demanded. Michael worked with the Dramatics NYC team for art director Harilquin and was the key makeup artist during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for Katie Stern for Venexiana Couture. Michael has worked with magazines, photographers, and models in New York and abroad as a makeup artist. Michael states, “After working for so many cosmetic lines through the years I felt that my clients were looking for something simple, straight to the points and safe for all skin types so I created Blue Michael Cosmetics.”
By launching the line, Michael wanted “…to show people that they can express their inner beauty outwardly and be themselves.” His launch was in part driven by the diverse clientele he’d served and the inclusive principal, ‘cosmetics for all’. Michael has worked with Rocsi Diaz from 106 and Park and Entertainment Tonight, and the legendary R&B and Disco singer Evelyn “Champagne” King.
Michael’s beauty forecast promises a little goes a long way with new hues, “We are getting ready to launch our new lipstick line called ‘High Intensity’, which includes six highly new colors with level ten pigment. We are also launching our new product ‘liquid to matte lip gloss line’. I am very excited to announce that recently I was in the Dominican Republic where we launched Blue Michael Cosmetics line, it marked the beginning of our international growth.” With a population of 10MM the diverse marketplace of the Dominican Republic, which has a median age of 26, allows the brand to establish a global presence.
Michael comments on a unique makeup trend that is a top seller, “ultimately our number one selling Lip Gloss called “POP”, which is the only lip gloss in the market that goes on clear and changes according to your PH balance while staining your lips with your perfect color and moisture.” Aside from being proud of POP and watching BB Cream fly off the shelves, Michael states, “I feel (100%) motivated being the first ‘Puerto Rican/Dominican’ owned cosmetics line, I am setting an example to show, that no matter what…you can build and live your dreams.”
