The Kiehl’s Company was founded as a single pharmacy in 1851 in the East Village of New York City, and today is one of the première American-made brands of natural skin care and cosmetics. Their Crème de Corps, a rich and luxurious moisturizing body lotion, is one of the brand’s most popular products. It contains soy-milk, cocoa butter, beta-carotene, almond oil, sesame oil, and a long list of multi-syllable ingredients that moves it away from the comparable pure cocoa butter you can get from any local West African market in New York City. Cocoa butter is made from the cocoa bean, the same bean that delivers your favorite dark chocolate bar, and has long been used in traditional communities where it grows for its ability to naturally hydrate the skin and heal body scars and other skin ailments. Crème de Corps is creamy and feels smooth going on your skin. It takes about 3 minutes to soak in, but the result is smooth, glowing, hydrated skin with no greasy residue. Crème de Corps is my go-to store bought body lotion despite its medium-high price and I suspect a low spread rate is why the end of the bottle comes quicker than other brands, but it could also be that Crème de Corps is so luxurious I end up applying more of it.
