Starting out as a painter, Ksenia Poulber worked with wood, oil and encaustic media, creating abstract canvases that embrace stark juxtaposition of texture and color. The desire to integrate art into her community led Ksenia to open In Spirit Living Yoga Studio and Art Gallery in Long Branch, NJ. The works presented at the gallery inspired Ksenia to expand into photography, with emphasis on portraiture as well as performing arts. While living in Chicago, Ksenia created photo portfolios for several classical dancers and musicians, including Ani Gogova, Ian Maksin, Martha Councell-Vargas, Sergei Kvitko and Abigail Simon. Curiosity about the performative possibilities of being in front of the camera led Ksenia to model for Matrix, Rusk, Wella among others. Working on both sides of the camera, Ksenia is able to exhibit and direct posture and poise to create dynamic and unforgettable portraits and portfolios. Ksenia resides in New York and is currently at work on Projections, a series of video works on masculine desire set to forgotten pop classics.
