Merecco Turner was born and raised in Louisville, KY where he started his career in the music business at the age of 16, opening shows for the likes of Jamie Foxx, Toni Braxton, Gerald Levert, and more. After moving to New York City with his former R&B group, Merecco was discovered by legendary hip hop artist Heavy D by way of his longtime vocal teacher, whom unbeknownst to Merecco was related to the overweight lover. Merecco has been working in the music business for over years. He has worked with a variety of artist and other music producers such as Heavy D, Aaron Carter, Wyclef Jean, Ja Rule, Shanice Wilson, Jimmy Cozier, Mario Winans, The Voice Season 2 winner Jermaine Paul, Howie Dorough from the Back Street Boys, Jim Beanz, Philippine’s artist Sitti Navarro and Russian pop star Dima Bilan. Teddy Riley, Tricky Stewart, Jim Beanz, The Timbaland’s camp, Narada Michael Waldin, The Track Masters, Rockwilder, Dave “Jam” Hall, Full Force, Ron Browz, Needlz, 7 Aurelius & George Noriega from the Miami Sound Machine, and his longtime friend and music producer D/R Period whom Merecco partnered with to create his very Christmas song “My Favorite Time Of The Year” which is the only Christmas song on The Orchard Music label. This was one of Merecco’s longtime dreams as a child growing up and hearing Donnie Hathaway’s “This Christmas, he fulfilled that dream.
Merecco’s music has been featured in several TV shows and commercials for NBC, ABC ESPAN, MGM, HBO, LIFETIME and more. The TV shows he’s worked on range from MTV’s Girl Code and Guy Code, Fuse TV’s “G Thing” and Love & Hip hop. Movies such as Miss March, Shutter, Law and Order SVU, rapper 50 Cent and STARZ hit TV show POWER, as well as Life Love Soul which he created the original music, scored, and produced a soundtrack for. The film was an HBO sponsored Urban World Film Festival in New York and won the viewer’s choice award. He also scored the Melee Entertainment film Grand Slammed which stars veteran actor Paul Calderon. As an actor he has appeared in TV shows such as the Netflix series Seven Seconds, Law & Order SVU and POWER.
He has been studying and working in film and TV perfecting his craft as not just an actor, but a writer by working with film veterans such as Gary Reeves, who has appointed Merecco as his new film score composer, and music Supervisor for season 3 of the Emmy award winning NBC show “GIVE”, which is hosted by Blair Underwood and Jenna Bush-Hager Merecco is set to produce the Emmy winning shows very first music soundtrack for the new season, as well as executive producing a couple of the episodes, which he personally has his hand in creating. He is currently screenwriting the film “The Forgotten Sisters” which is a film that tells the life story of 90’s house music artist Natascha Wright formerly of the German house band La Bouche which scored hits like “ Be my lover” and “Sweet Dreams” as well as working as a producer on the film “Sachmo” the life story of the great musician Louis Armstrong. With the release of his new single “Sundress” and an album on the way under his production and record label Billionaire Focus Group, there is no limit as to what Merecco can do, or where he is going.
