Seeking a classic, fizzy, holiday-themed beverage to offer your guests? Eggnog is the ideal mixed drink for getting into the festive spirit. A holiday would not be complete without this debauched and tasty homemade drink. Eggnog is an excellent example of a rich and velvety beverage that you should share with your loved ones.

INGREDIENTS:

4 large Eggs

 ½ cup + 2 Tbsp Granulated Sugar

1 ½ cups Whole Milk

1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream

1 Tsp Ground Nutmeg

3 oz Cognac (Courvoisier)

3 oz Brandy or Bourbon

** For a classic traditionally taste Brandy is the best choice for Eggnog.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Pour the eggs and sugar into any medium powered blender and blend for approximately 4 minutes, until well combined.

*** Caution: If you’re using a high-powered blender, a blend time of 4 minutes may be recommended, but be careful not to overcook the eggs.

Turn off the blender and gradually add the whole milk, heavy cream, nutmeg, brandy or bourbon, and cognac. Blend on medium speed for an additional one minute to ensure there are no lumps and everything is fully combined.

Transfer the Eggnog to an airtight container and chill for at least four hours, preferably overnight, to enable the flavors to mix and soften.

Before serving, give the Eggnog a quick stir or blend for 10 seconds because it may have settled in the fridge.

Pour the Eggnog into your choice of glass and garnish with cinnamon sticks or crushed cinnamon.

Notes: If you don’t have a Vitamix blender, use one of these strong blenders to achieve a uniform and smooth texture for your EGGNOG.

Eggs: Add a frothy texture to the Eggnog.

Additionally, if you are not sensitive to raw eggs and are using pasteurized eggs, you can blend for only 2-3 minutes to achieve a creamy consistency.

Granulated Sugar: Contributes to a nice, thick texture and improves the overall flavor of the Eggnog.

Heavy Cream: Makes the Eggnog extra creamy; and is required for the recipe.

Whole Milk: Is required since its fat content gives a thick, creamy texture to the Eggnog, but any type of milk will suffice.

Ground Cinnamon: Is a vital component in Eggnog, adding to the festive mix of warm spices and the drink’s distinct flavor.

Ground Nutmeg: The secret ingredient that enhances the drink. It also adds a lovely flavor to the drink without dominating its alcohol content. A taste that is hard to resist.

Cognac: Provides a rich, fruity flavor that complements the drink’s creaminess and spiciness.

Brandy: Is the most traditional alcohol for Eggnog. It adds a smooth, refined flavor to the velvety texture of Eggnog without dominating it.

Bourbon: Complements the spices and adds flavor to the Eggnog.

*** When making Eggnog, brandy or bourbon is the best choice.

*** The addition of nutmeg and brandy gives the Eggnog recipe its particularly distinct flavor.

Eggnog can be refrigerated for up to four days in an airtight container.

Cheers!
