Teriyaki salmon is a traditional Japanese dish. This meal is incredibly delicious and tender.
Just the right amount of tart and sweet flavors. There is a savory homemade Teriyaki sauce to enjoy with every bite. Teriyaki salmon goes nicely with vegetables or white rice. If you enjoy Japanese food, Teriyaki Salmon is a must-try.
2 Salmon Fillets
Teriyaki Sauce:
3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp Honey
4 Tsp Brown Sugar
1 Tsp Grated Ginger
1 Tsp Grated Garlic
Garnish As Desired:
1/2 Tsp Sesame Seeds
1 Green Onion sliced
Use a paper towel to dry the salmon fillets and set it aside. Salmon that has been dried will not stick to the skillet.
Combine the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, grated ginger, and grated garlic in a small pot. After that, season each salmon on both sides with a dash of salt and pepper.
The cast iron skillet should be heated at medium-low heat. When the olive oil begins to simmer, add the salmon fillets to the skillet. Allow them to cook for three to four minutes on each side.
Once all sides of the salmon fillets are cooked, cover them with the homemade teriyaki sauce. Continue to spoon the sauce over the salmon. This prevents the salmon from being flipped, which may break it. Additionally, it prevents the sauce from scorching.
The Teriyaki sauce should thicken after
4–5 minutes of simmering. Serve this tasty Japanese meal with mashed potatoes, white rice, or vegetables.
Salmon: Is best cooked with the skin on to protect it from drying out or burning on the bottom.
Soy Sauce: Adds a ton of flavor. Any Japanese soy sauce from Kikkoman will do.
Ginger: Use fresh grated ginger for this recipe because it’s a fundamental component that gives the Teriyaki sauce a distinct flavor.
Garlic: Gives the sauce a richer flavor. If fresh garlic is not available, use garlic powder as a substitute.
Brown Sugar: Gives the teriyaki sauce a pleasant sweetness.
Honey: Adds a delightful sweetness to the marinade.
Sesame Seeds: Give the dish a little crunch and subtle flavor. Optional.
