For more than two decades, Bradford Rand has built a business around a simple but powerful premise: when you bring the right people, brands and experiences together, meaningful business follows. As the founder of RAND Luxury, Rand has become one of the most recognizable figures in the luxury events space, creating highly curated experiences that bring together entrepreneurs, executives, collectors, investors and some of the world’s most prestigious brands.
That philosophy is perhaps nowhere more evident than at the Hamptons Concours d’Elegance, which has evolved into one of the summer’s most anticipated luxury automotive events. While the extraordinary collection of automobiles is undoubtedly the draw, Rand’s vision extends well beyond the cars. The event is designed to create an environment where relationships are formed, brands are experienced and business opportunities develop organically.
“The key to an incredible event is the right combination of people, exceptional cars, strong sponsors, and attention to detail,” Rand explains. “Each year, the Hamptons Concours attracts more rare and valuable automobiles, driving greater attendance and sponsor support. Our team’s focus on every detail allows the event to continually grow and flourish.”
That attention to detail is central to Rand’s approach. His events are carefully constructed not simply as showcases, but as environments where accomplished people can connect naturally. Bringing together leaders and entrepreneurs from diverse industries, he says, is what makes the Hamptons Concours a must-attend experience.
“Many guests are successful, self-made business owners who celebrate their achievements through a passion for collector cars,” Rand says. “It creates a dynamic atmosphere for networking and socializing.”
Rand’s ability to create those environments is rooted in a network that has been cultivated over more than 20 years. In an industry where access and relationships can be difficult to replicate, he considers two assets particularly valuable: time and trust.
RAND Luxury has built extensive databases of loyal attendees and sponsors whose confidence in the company’s events has translated into repeat participation and long-term relationships. Sponsors who have experienced a strong return on investment are more likely to come back, allowing Rand to grow efficiently without relying exclusively on cold outreach.
“Our greatest advantages are time and trust,” he says. “Over 20 years, RAND Luxury has built extensive databases of loyal attendees and sponsors. Their confidence in our first-class events drives repeat attendance.”
That network also creates an enormous operational advantage. Rather than spending months developing a guest list or prospecting for sponsors, Rand can activate his proprietary database almost immediately.
“With the simple launch of a mass email to our proprietary database, RAND Luxury has the advantage of saving many months’ worth of time curating a guest list or reaching out to potential sponsors to financially support an event we are producing.”
For Rand, however, longevity has never been about growth for growth’s sake. It has been about consistently delivering quality experiences and doing right by the people who support them.
His business philosophy is straightforward: produce events that are both high quality and genuinely enjoyable, and make sure sponsors and guests leave feeling valued.
“If a sponsor or guest wants a refund, don’t refuse,” he says. “You should acknowledge the problem and refund their money expeditiously. By quickly returning their investment, they are more likely to return, give your company another chance and speak highly of your brand.”
That philosophy of accountability and customer loyalty has helped shape the enduring reputation of RAND Luxury.
This year’s Hamptons Concours provided Rand with a particularly gratifying indication that his vision is continuing to evolve. One of his most memorable moments came early in the day, watching an extraordinary procession of increasingly rare and valuable automobiles arrive at the event.
“One of my most memorable moments was in the morning seeing many more rare cars drive in compared to last summer, one after the other, each more valuable than the previous one,” he recalls.
But perhaps the greatest validation came later in the day, when guests began telling him that this was the best Concours yet.
“It was music to my ears after working eight months non-stop on planning this year’s Concours.”
That kind of response underscores why Rand believes experiential marketing remains so powerful, particularly for luxury brands. In an increasingly digital marketplace, there are certain things that simply cannot be replicated on a screen.
“You can’t taste the wine or cognac on social media, you can’t test drive the Ferrari from an advertisement nor can you try on gorgeous jewelry from visiting a website,” he says. “Experiencing a luxury brand in person, I believe, drives market acceptance and growth.”
For luxury companies, that physical interaction can become the difference between awareness and genuine connection. The Concours provides a platform where consumers can see, touch, taste, drive and experience products while simultaneously developing relationships with the people behind the brands.
Rand is also watching closely as artificial intelligence begins transforming virtually every industry. Rather than viewing AI as a replacement for the human component of events, he sees it as an opportunity to make the business of producing them more efficient.
“I believe that AI will simply make luxury event producing more efficient,” he says. “From creating invitations to coming up with unique, formally written text, all aspects of show production will be faster.”
For Rand, technology is ultimately a tool. The fundamental ingredients of a successful luxury event—people, relationships, creativity and experience—remain human.
That same emphasis on creativity helps explain why some luxury brands continue to lead while others struggle to remain relevant. In Rand’s view, the difference comes down to a willingness to continually evolve.
“Luxury brands that continue to lead in their respective category continue to create, innovate and recruit top creative talent.”
For brands considering an investment in the Hamptons Concours, Rand believes the value of participation must be measured beyond immediate sales.
Luxury brands understand that there are no guarantees of an immediate purchase simply because someone attends an event. But what they receive is something considerably more difficult to purchase through traditional advertising: direct access to an affluent and highly relevant audience.
Significant purchases have taken place at RAND Luxury events, including a Rolls-Royce and the acquisition of a million-dollar private jet card. Yet Rand believes exhibitors should look at the larger opportunity.
“The primary focus of exhibiting companies should be on enhancing brand awareness, relationship building, and strategic follow-up.”
That long-term perspective is increasingly important in luxury, where relationships can take months or even years to develop before ultimately becoming significant business.
For young entrepreneurs hoping to build something lasting, Rand’s advice is equally direct.
He identifies three essential qualities: genuine passion, the ability to surround yourself with an intelligent and motivated team, and an unwillingness to accept failure as the final outcome.
“You must be genuinely passionate about your business,” he says. “Secondly, you must surround yourself with intelligent, motivated team members and thirdly you must never accept failure as an option.”
The last point is particularly personal. Rand acknowledges that there have been moments throughout his career when he believed he might have to close his business. But perseverance ultimately became part of the entrepreneurial equation.
“There were many times when I thought I was going to close my business, but I always got back up and continued working.”
He also cautions aspiring entrepreneurs that building a successful business rarely happens without sacrifice.
“Young future business leaders must realize that there will most probably be a sacrifice of countless days and nights without breaks, sleep and guidance in order to build and compete in today’s marketplace.”
It is a philosophy grounded less in overnight success than in endurance—the willingness to keep moving forward when the outcome is uncertain.
Looking ahead, Rand sees significant opportunity to expand the Hamptons Concours model beyond the Hamptons. His long-term vision is to duplicate the event in multiple cities, with each new Concours benefiting regional charities.
The goal, however, remains consistent: connect the right people with the right brands.
“With each new show I produce, the role I believe my events play is that of having the right people connecting with the right brands.”
That philosophy extends beyond his events. Rand considers leadership an opportunity to share experience and provide guidance to the next generation of entrepreneurs.
“With respect to business leadership, I personally try to lead by example,” he says. “I make myself available to any entrepreneurs that need guidance.”
For Bradford Rand, the future of luxury events is not simply about bigger guest lists, more valuable cars or increasingly sophisticated technology. It is about creating experiences that people remember, relationships that endure and opportunities that would not exist without bringing the right people into the same room. And if the evolution of the Hamptons Concours is any indication, Rand is only getting started!
In his free time, Rand can be found playing tennis or performing as the lead singer of a rock band that pays tribute to The Doors and Depeche Mode. His next intimate concert will take place at The Cutting Room on October 14, 2026, at 7:00pm.
