AF: What was the thought process in making your sophomore album, Multiple Personality Volume 2?
RV: When I hear a beat, different lyrics pop up in my head with different voices. I can literally write three different songs with the same beat as inspiration. Multiple Personality Volume 1 was exactly that, but super aggressive. My new project, Multiple Personality Volume 2, is a maturation of the first. My fans will hear my progression as and artist. It’s crazy! Both of these albums were written in one years time from each other. I felt that I have grown so much as an artist. I can’t wait for the world to hear my new album and witness my growth.
AF: How is this project different from your first album? What was the creative process like?
RV: Multiple Personality Volume 1 was written entirely during quarantine of the global pandemic. Multiple Personality Volume 2 was written after the world has re-opened. So, there’s a dynamic there. I tackled both projects with the same intensity. I just feel like that on this new project I’m much more better as an artist. I patiently took more time to refine certain sounds as well as my craft.
AF: The album’s first single, TIDDY’s featuring Jim Jones and Blue Diamond has been in heavy rotation over the summer. Did you think the song would be a hit when you came up with the title and concept?
RV: TIDDY’s, as funny as the song might seem, is super relatable since 60-70% of the world’s population have a pair. Lol. And the remaining percentage love them! No matter the race, creed or color, it’s safe to say just about everyone has a deep appreciation for them. When I came up with the concept, I realized it hasn’t been done. So, I was like, I’ll be the first. Lol. Initially, Jim Jones was very skeptical of the project, but it turned out to be a BIG hit.
AF: With the country starting to open back up, do you plan on touring to promote the album?
RV: Yes. I plan to do some touring to promote the album. Every state has different restrictions and protocols. So, my team and I will be scheduling shows and performing according to each state guideline. I already have shows lined up in New Jersey and the Hamptons. Stay tuned.
AF: What’s the most surreal moment you had since being a recording artist?
RV: The moment I saw myself on BET. I still can’t believe it till this day. My video was on rotation on BET Jams. It was absolutely the most surreal feeling ever; watching myself on television. I like to give a special shoutout to my publicist team for making it happen.
AF: How do you feel social media has impacted the music industry?
RV: I’m new to the music industry as a recording artist, but I’m also a veteran in the club and concert business. Social media has certainly helped my transition to a recording artist. I’m able to touch so many people by one post. I look at the comments and take it as feedback. It also gives me an opportunity to connect and interact with my fans. It’s an essential tool. Ultimately, I want my music to touch people’s souls. Social media is a perfect conduit to make that happen.
AF: If you can change anything about the music industry, what would it be?
RV: To be honest, it’s the politics. Even if you have money or a significant budget, it’s certain doors you can only open by knowing someone.
AF: What’s next for you and your career?
RV: Multiple Personality Volume 2 releases on October 10th. I’m super excited. I’m going to keep the momentum going with the tour and promotion of my sophomore project. The sky is the limit.
